BOSSIER CITY, LA – Services for Llewellyn "Bill" McCorkle will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 27, 2013 at Hill Crest Memorial Chapel. Officiating will be Reverend Kendall Docter of Barksdale United Methodist Church, where Bill served as an usher until recently. Interment will follow at Hill Crest Memorial Park with full military honors. The family will be receiving friends at 12:00 p.m. the hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
He was born in Mechanicsburg, OH in 1920. He graduated high school in 1938 and joined the Air Force soon after and served his country for over 20 years. He toured all over and spent time as a P.O.W. in Germany. Bill met his wife while stationed in Biloxi, MS and had two daughters. He lived an active and full life. He loved to be out in fresh air and help someone in need. He also liked to spend the day with his longtime companion Ida Lungren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Hazel and daughter Gale McCorkle.
He is survived by his daughter Sharon McCorkle, son William McCorkle, grandchildren Jamie Bass, Angie Myers, Thomas Smith, 10 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandson.
