Mr. Amos died on Sunday, July 22, 2012 at his residence. He was born on April 30, 1933 to the late William Walter and Sarah Cecilia Wilkinson Amos in Valleyfield, Quebec, Canada. He was employed at R.R. Donnelly Printing for 38 years where he started as a machinist in Chicago. He was later promoted to Supervisor and then manager in the maintenance department. After he received a promotion to department manager, he was transferred to Dwight, IL, Warsaw, IN, and to Mattoon, IL. In October of 1989, he moved to Corinth as the Assistant Plant Manager at Krieger-Ringet until he retired in 1994. He was later called back as a consultant for National Geographic for an additional 4 years.
He was an avid reader and book collector, loved to watch and play hockey, was an accredited referee at Notre Dame along with several other rinks in Illinois/Indiana area on the collegiate level and an active member of St. James Catholic Church for 21 years.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Jean M. Amos; one son, Gary Amos and wife Teri of Okalona, PA; three daughters, Janine Black of Ft. Wayne, IN, Beverly Hess and husband Dave of Effingham, IL, and Beverly Lawrence and husband Terry of Sarnia, Ontario, Canada; three step-sons, Nathan May of Murfreesboro, TN, Jeffrey May and wife Julie, and Michael May all of Warsaw, IN; 14 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren, and a host of friends.
