Calvin James Hudson, 81, passed away Thursday, October 16, 2014 surrounded by his loving family in his home. The family will receive family and friends from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Monday, October 20th at Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home, 542 Hickory Street, Abilene. Funeral services are scheduled for 10 a.m. Tuesday, October 21st at the Elliott-Hamil Chapel of Memories. Burial will follow in the Texas State Veterans Cemetery in Abilene.
Calvin was born on April 3, 1933, lived in Abilene for most of his life, and he owned and operated a cement business for thirty years. Calvin proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War. He had such a great love for horses and children. Calvin was preceded in death by his parents, James Dee and Fronia Bell Hudson; brothers, Sonny, Frank, and Frog; and sister, Odell McKinney.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Alva Baker; brother, Kenneth Hudson; sister, Mary Hudson; daughters, Janie Roche and husband Joe, Darla Callison and husband Victor, Darlene Hudson, Cathy Morales, and Janet Proffitt and husband Dan; seven granddaughters, three grandsons, thirteen great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was deeply loved and will be missed greatly by his family.
