Carl E. Bess, 70, of Lima, died at 1:02 p.m., on Friday, October 28, 2011, at St. Rita's Medical Center. He was born Feb. 26, 1941, in Rockwood, TN, to Carl L. and Gertrude (Ashbrook) Bess who preceded him in death. He was raised also raised by his stepfather, Satch Bloodworth, who also preceded him in death. He married Martha A. Rooms in 2004 and she survives in Lima.
Mr. Bess was a shipping clerk for the Square D Company, Florence, Ky. He was very handy and could fix or build just about anything. He was a social member of the American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars.
Also surviving are eight children: Kevin (Debra) Houston, Kenneth (Sharvetta) Bess, Micah Bess, Mark Bess, Callie (Michael) Morgan, Ella (John) Davis, Carla (Tony) Privett and James Bess; six stepchildren; fifteen grandchildren, 18 step grandchildren and two step-great grandchildren; a sister, Margaret Bess and a brother, James Roland Bess.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Doyle Bess and a sister, Wanda Bess.
Funeral services will begin at Noon, on Monday, at Siferd-Orians Funeral Home, with burial to follow in Memorial Park Cemetery.
Visitation will be on Monday, from 10 a.m. until the time of services at Siferd-Orians Funeral Home.
