Carolyn Dukes Ahlin, 93, of Lumberton passed away Tuesday, September 20, 2011 at Glen Flora Nursing Home in Lumberton.
Mrs. Ahlin was born on May 4, 1918 to the late Olin Oren and Georgia McMillan Dukes.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Bernard "Bunny" Ahlin; and brothers, Olin Dukes and Billy McMillan Dukes.
The Ahlins lived in Lynchburg, VA while he was employed at Babcock and Wilcox and she worked at the gift shop at the hospital.
Mrs. Ahlin was a retired school teacher and taught in Greensboro, Jacksonville, and Wilmington.
Leaving to cherish her memories are sister-in-law Mary McMillan, of Fayetteville; nieces, Jane McMillan Smith and husband Iverson and Kirby McMillan Chaffee, of Fayetteville; nephew, William McMillan and wife, Mandy, of Fayetteville; great-nephews, RJ Chaffee and James Smith; great-niece, Caroline McMillan; special cousins, Joy and Larry Bolton; best friend of 87 years, Lois Ramseur; and a host of other relatives and friends.
A Graveside service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Friday, September 23, 2011 at Meadowbrook Cemetery with Rev. Matt Rich officiating.
