Chalmer J. Bauman, 82 of Claypool, AZ passed away April 4, 2013. He was born September 22, 1930 in Harrison Township, Henry County, Ohio the son of the late Charles R. and Florence G. Bauman. Chalmer was a Korean War Veteran. He was a long time cattle buyer with the former Bauman Stockyards in Napoleon, Ohio. He was also a lifelong member of the Napoleon Elks Lodge #929 and the Masonic Lodge #256 also of Napoleon. Thereafter, Chalmer became a long time resident of Arizona where he became a Wholesale Jewelry Broker of Native American and Turquoise Jewelry. He traveled throughout the west in pursuit of these items for many years. He will be remembered for his love of travel, exploring life and dining in small towns throughout the United States where he never met a stranger. Because of this love of travel he developed many life-long friendships throughout the country and the world. Although Chalmer loved life in Arizona, he never lost his love for his roots in Henry County and his family.
Chalmer was preceded in death by his sister Valda (John) McBride of Napoleon, Oh and his son Bradley Allen Bauman of Napoleon, Oh. He is survived by his brother Norbert (Judy) Bauman of Napoleon, Oh, sister Janet (Tom) Williams of Fremont, In, son Charles Robert (Kathy) Bauman II of Longwood, FL and Kevin Lee (Moira) Bauman of Dublin, Oh, 6 grandchildren Michelle, Jared, Kelly, Brian, Parker Bauman and Rachel, 6 great grandchildren, many special nieces and nephews as well as longtime companion Doris Chansley.
A grave side service with military honors will be 2:00p.m. Friday April 26th at Forrest Hill Cemetery with Pastor Hays of St. Paul Lutheran Church Napoleon Township officiating. A reception with light appetizers and desserts will be held immediately following at the Elks Lodge of Napoleon, 126 East. Clinton St. Napoleon, Ohio.
In lieu of flowers the family has requested all memorial donations be made to St. Paul Lutheran Church Napoleon Township or to a charity of the donor's choice in the name of Chalmer J. Bauman. Arrangements have been entrusted to Walker Mortuary. Share a memory of Chalmer at www.walkermortuary.us.com
