Charles J. Beckner, 89, Parkville, MO, formerly of Overland Park,KS, died January 5, 2011. Visitation 10-11 AM, Tuesday, January 10, Service at 11 AM at McGilley & Hoge Chapel, 8024 Santa Fe Drive, Overland Park. Burial will follow in Resurrection Cemetery, Lenexa, KS.
Mr. Beckner was born in Eaton, Colorado, to parents Charles N. and Vera (Newton) Beckner. He served in the US Army during World War II, and was a salesman for 38 years for Westinghouse Electric Corporation, retiring in 1985.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Evelyn M. (Plumberg) Beckner, in 2003. He is survived by a daughter, Beverly Hackley, and her husband, Mike; by four grandchildren: Cody Croan, Amanda Westrem, Veronica Nevils, and Hillary Mosher; a great granddaughter, Mandolin Mosher; and a sister-in-law: Jeanne Beckner. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Heart Association.
