STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. -- Charles (Skip) Benedict, 69, native of Staten Island, died yesterday in Richmond University Medical Center, West Brighton.
Born and raised in Mariners Harbor, Mr. Benedict graduated from Port Richmond High School.
He worked as an operating engineer for Great Lakes Dredge and Dock Company in Mariners Harbor.
In his leisure time, he enjoyed spending time in the company of his grandchildren and doing projects with them.
Surviving are his wife of 25 years, the former Elizabeth Denull; two sons, Charles Jr. and Dave; one daughter, Donna Benedict; one brother, James (Red) Benedict; two sisters, Diane Agnello and Anna Pierce, and three grandchildren.
The funeral will be Friday at 8 p.m. in the Virginia Funeral Chapel, Dongan Hills. Burial arrangements are private.
