Charles A. Birmingham, Jr., age 89, of Rogers, passed away August 31st , 2012 at his home. He was born April 16, 1923 in Watervliet, New York to the late Charles A. and Estelle Smith Birmingham. He retired as a manufacturing Engineer for IBM Corporation. He was a veteran of the US Army. Charles had lived in New York State, Colorado and then moved to Arkansas 34 years ago. He was a life member of the New York State Ranger School – Forestry School where he graduated in 1942. He was a life member of the Military Order fo the Purple Heart, Post 633 in Rogers, a Life Member of VFW Post 2841 in Brighton Colorado, he served in the 95th Infantry, 320th Engineer (c ) Battalion During WW2; ETO, Purple Heart, Bronze Star during his service from October 1942 until November 1945. He had been a member of Hoags Corners, New York Volunteer Fire Dept., and had been president of Woodcarvers of North West Arkansas.
He is survived by his wife Betsey Vincent Birmingham to whom he was married on February 15th, 1947 in Nassau, New York. , 2 sons Charles Augustine Birmingham III of Brighton, CO, Jeffrey John Birmingham of Centerton, AR, 1 daughter, Nancy Phillips Albin of Rogers, AR, 1 brother Jerry Birmingham, 1 sister Anne Birmingham of Oregon, and by 6 grandchildren and 4 Great Grandchildren.
A Military Service will be held on Tuesday, Sept. 4th at 11:00 AM at the Fayetteville National Cemetery. A visitation will be held on Tuesday, Sept. 4th from 6:00 until 8:00 PM at Callison-Lough Funeral Home Chapel in Rogers.
