On March 4, 2014, Charles William (Billy) Jeanes, 85, went home to be with the Lord. He was born in Fort Valley, GA and lived in Macon, GA and Miami, FL before coming to Port St. Lucie in 1992.
Mr. Jeanes is survived by his wife, Mary Kate; two children, Charles William (Chuck) Jeanes, Jr. and Pamela Kaiser, both of Port St.Lucie; four grandchildren, Laura Rose Dwyer (husband Jay Dwyer), of Charlotte, NC, Philip John Kaiser, III, of Ft. Lauderdale, Lila Annette Arledge (husband Jared Arledge), of Tampa, FL, and Jewell Jeanes of Port St. Lucie; two great-granddaughters, Madisyn Dwyer and Delilah Arledge; daughter-in-law, Cindy Jeanes, and son-in-law, Richard Kaiser.
Mr. Jeanes (Billy) was a graduate of Hargrave Military Academy, Chatham, Virginia, attended Truett-McConnell Jr. College, received his B.S. degree from Georgia Southern, and his MA degree from the University of Georgia. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean conflict and was awarded the Purple Heart. Mr. Jeanes pastored several Baptist churches in Georgia, traveled as a missionary to Singapore, taught school in Bibb County, Georgia, owned an antique shop in Fort Valley, GA, and worked in security at Parrot Jungle, in Miami, FL, until his retirement. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Port St. Lucie, FL.
A Visitation will be Saturday, March 8, 2014, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the First Baptist Church of Port St. Lucie, FL, with a Funeral Service following at 11:00 AM. Interment will follow the service at Fernhill Memorial Gardens, Stuart, FL.
