Charlie and Dane were great friends I got to spend good time with, and both of them loved a good joke.

I was sorry to hear of Charlies passing also. After I graduated from McNeese and 2 year army tour, I moved to New Orleans. I lost track of everyone that I went to school with with the exception of John Packman. I also remember Senior Day at Lake Charles High. I am not sure how we got away with some of the stuff we did. I wish I would have taken time to find him while I lived in New Orleans.

Along with Sue Smith LCHS 1963, I also remember the event...he was such a good sport and we had a blast doing that song! Charles and I studied together many hours on the phone during senior year, as well. He was a great guy and I am so sorry for your loss, Dane. Barbara Nelson Myers

Seniors 1963 LCHS: I will always remember Charles swinging out, on a rope no less, onstage to 3 'Shirelles' singing "He's So Fine". Yes he had a sense of humor!

Charlie was a survivor and determined to enjoy life in spite of its adversity. You were his rock. I wish I was there Dane to hug your neck. I've been in New Mexico for the past year and distance prevails.

It's so hard to grasp that Charlie is gone. He was so ALIVE. I have never experienced greater kindness from anyone, nor had bigger laughs. A precious, beloved, unforgettable friend.

We extend our deepest sympathy to the family and friends of Charlie. From the first time we (part of Andee's extended family) met him,he was both kind and showed sincere interest in us. That made quite an impression on all of us. We are fortunate to have met him.

I liked Charley the first time I met him. He had a great sense of fun and was always up for new experiences. I think it's great that you guys went everywhere, even after Charley had lost his legs. His joy in good food was infectious, and his gumbo is the best I've ever tasted. I will miss him bad, Dane, and cherish all the good times we spent with you guys. I love you
