Clara Anderson passed away on June 5, 2012. Clara was born in Middletown, CT to the late Agnes (Kane) and Morris Elsworth Austin. Besides her parents, Clara was predeceased by her husband Everett Anderson. She is survived by her daughter Lynne Vergalitto; sister Parnel Austin Ide; brother Morris Elsworth Austin; longtime companion Richard B. Marshall, as well as many nieces and nephews. She will also be missed by her friend of many years Ginny Woods.
Clara attended and graduated from Simmons College in Boston, MA in 1957. She was the owner of Anderson's Angus Corral Restaurant in Westbrook until her retirement in 1985. Clara was a member of The Madison Winter Club, The Madison Beach Club, The Q Club in New Haven, The Encore Club, The Madison Women's Club, Dar Faith Trumbull Chapter, The Madison Garden Club, Colonial Dames War 1812, New England Women Ancient Artillery, Founders and Patriots, and AAUW.
A funeral service will take place on Monday, June 11 at The First Congregational Church of Madison, 26 Meeting House La. in Madison at 11:00 am. Friends may call on Sunday, June 10 from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm at Swan Funeral Home, 825 Boston Post Rd. in Madison. www.swanfuneralhomemadison.com
