Clara L. Bartholomay peacefully left this world on March 28 at the Hopewell Hospice House in Portland. A native of Ohio, born of German immigrant parents, Clara was 90 years old. She came to Portland in the 1950's for her love of the mountains and of nature. She was an active member of the Oregon Agate and Mineral Society and the Portland Four Square church for more than 30 years. She was preceeded in death by her sisters, Bertha Frazier of Seville, Ohio and Elsie Nieman of Creston, Ohio. She is survived by nieces Pat Anderson of Phoenix , Az, Linda Marchinchin of Brunswick , O., and Marilyn Drury, Sandia Park, N.M. and nephews, Jerry Frazier, Akron, O., Jim Frazier, Mt Union, PA, Robert Metz, Ridgeville, O., David Nieman, Guffstown, N.H., and John Nieman, Smithville, O. Memorial services will be held at Caldwell's Chapel, 20 NE 14th Ave, in Portland at 12 noon on April 4, 2012 with Pastor Tom Baker, and at Maple Mound Cemetery in Creston, Ohio on April 14, 2012.
