Clarence E. Burghy Sr., 80 of Waynesburg, died Saturday, October 5, 2013 in Ruby Memorial Hospital, Morgantown, WV.
He was born November 7, 1932 in Bannock, OH, a son of the late Ralph and Gertrude Elrick Burghy.
Mr. Burghy was a United States Army veteran of the Korean War, during which he received a Bronze Star and two Purple Hearts.
After his career in the army he worked as a crane operator with Timken Roller Bearing in Canton, OH.
He enjoyed going to auctions, football, wrestling, fishing and feeding his squirrels.
Mr. Burghy was a member of the American Legion Post #330, the D.A.V. # 123 and the V.F.W. #4793, all of Waynesburg.
On December 28, 1981 he married Shirley Whipkey, who survives.
Also surviving are 11 children, Clarence E. and Michelle Burghy Jr. of Sierra Vista, AZ, Timothy Burghy of Waynesburg, Katherine and Matthew Hayburn of Markleysburg, William and Ceda Burghy of Morgantown, WV, Eric and Deborah Ritthaler of Alpena, MI, Sharon McGilton of Waynesburg, Christine and Michael Cox of Canton, OH, John Burghy of Waynesburg, Ronda and William Cain of Waynesburg, Rosemary and Timothy Bird of Waynesburg and Carla Lemley of Crucible; 18 grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; two brothers, Charles E. and Terri Burghy of Cadiz, Oh and Kenneth Burghy and Cheryl Burr of Barnesville, OH; two sisters, Sara Lyons and Rosela Lowder both of Canton, OH.
Deceased are two sons, Ronald Burghy and Ralph Burghy; a brother, Ralph Burghy Jr. and two sisters, Penny Bennett and Mary Burghy.
Friends and family will be received from 3 to 8 pm on Wednesday in the Behm Funeral Home, 182 W. High Street, Waynesburg, where funeral services will be held on Thursday, October 10, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. Followed by interment in Greene County Memorial Park, Waynesburg.
