Cleo (Krause) Poe Scott Newsom, age 85, of Granite Shoals passed away February 22, 2014, in Llano with her family close to her side. She was born July 18, 1928, in Doole, Texas to Rinhart and Margie (Foster) Krause.
Cleo is survived by 2 daughters and 1 son from her marriage to O.M. Poe, Jr., Linda Short and husband Dennie Ray of Round Mountain, Patsy Fisher and husband Jimmy of Brownwood, and Kenneth Poe and wife Linda of Llano. Also surviving are 2 brothers R.J. Krause of Mt. Pleasant and Dennis Krause of Marble Falls and 1 sister Jo Anna McFadden of Kingsland; also 10 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren, 3 sisters-in-law and numerous nieces and nephews.
Cleo was preceded in death by her parents, twin sister Theo Shipman and brothers Johnny, Eldon, and Wayne Krause.
Cleo always enjoyed doing yard work, dancing, living and playing on the lake, and helping others. Cleo was a member of the Marble Falls VFW Ladies Auxiliary for a number of years.
The visitation for Cleo will be held Tuesday evening February 25th from 6 to 8. The funeral will be held Wednesday morning, 10am, at Clements-Wilcox Funeral Home in Marble Falls officiated by Reverend John Taylor. Interment will follow at Lakeland Hills Memorial Park. Those named as pallbearers were James Kevin Fisher, Mark Everett Fisher, Michael Ray Short, Christopher Alan Short, Sean Short, and Jimmy Louis Fisher.
