Cleta Faye Scifres, age 82, passed away May 9, 2015. Cleta was born October 14, 1932 in Parker County, Texas to the late John Adam and Addie Mae (Ballard) Neagle. On November 8, 1952, she married Jessie B Scifres in Judd, Texas. They moved to Abilene in 1963. She was a longtime member of Southern Hills Baptist Church, serving as both church clerk and secretary. Throughout the years, she and Jessie hosted many visiting pastors in their home. Cleta was a wonderful cook and she also loved to crochet. Her favorite pastime was spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. Cleta was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Jessie B Scifres; sisters, Avo Spencer and Mable Burns; and brothers, Ebert and Audley Neagle; and her daughter-in-law, Jill Scifres. Survivors include her daughter, Donna Scifres Solomon of Abilene; son, Leray Scifres of Abilene; grandchildren, Kimberly Lord and husband Brad, Ryan Scifres, Brandon Scifres and D.J. Solomon; great grandchildren, Jessie Lord, Zoey Scifres, Katherine Lord, Brooke Scifres and Jennifer Lord; and numerous other family and friends. Visitation will be held Tuesday, May 12, 2015 from 6pm to 8pm at the Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home, 542 Hickory Street. Funeral Services will be held 2pm Wednesday, May 13, 2015 at Southern Hills Baptist Church, 1741 Edgemont Drive with Rev. Gary Lawrence officiating. Burial will follow in Elmwood Memorial Park Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Ryan Scifres, Brandon Scifres, D.J. Solomon, Dale Evers, Kevin Swanson and Mac Peacock. Honorary pallbearers will be Alex Forehand, Francisco Lopez and Ross May.
