Cora Josephine "Jo" Akers
86, of Indianapolis, IN passed away Thursday, January 21, 2010. She was born November 21, 1923 in Indianapolis, IN to the late Ombie Paul Murphy and Cora May (Schrader) Murphy. Jo was a homemaker most of her life and former member of the Moose Lodge. She is survived by her son, Ray W. Akers II (wife, Cheryl) of Shelbyville, IN; daughters, Sharron Gimbel of Indianapolis, IN, Nancy Tanner (husband, Phillip) of Fortville, IN, and Susan Akers of Indianapolis, IN; eight grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. Jo was preceded in death by her husband, Ray W. Akers; three sisters; and one brother. Visitation is Monday, January 25, 2010 from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Little & Sons Funeral Home, Beech Grove Chapel, where the funeral is Tuesday, January 26, 2010 at 1:00 p.m. Burial will follow at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens in Greenwood. Memorial contributions may be made to the donor's charity of choice.
