MONTVILLE – Cornelius "Neil" W. Banta III, 51, died at home on Thursday after a courageous battle with cancer.
He was born on Aug. 11, 1960 in Norwich CT to Cornelius W. and Joan D. (Porter) Banta Jr. He graduated from NFA in 1978 and worked for 16 years at Robertson Paper Box, then the Montville Board of Education for 15 years until having to retire due to his illness.
Neil is survived by his parents, his daughter; Tiffany and her husband Jesse Bachand, grandchildren; Michael Torres Jr, and Diego Bachand, brother; Scott Banta, sister; Dawn Pitman, and lifelong friend Babette Kowalczyk along with many aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews and extended family.
A Memorial Service will be held on Wednesday June 27th at 6pm at Potter's House – Church of God, 500 Sandy Hollow Rd., Mystic, CT. There are no calling hours and burial will be private at the convenience of the family.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial donations be made to the American Cancer Society, PO Box 22718, Oklahoma City, OK, 73123-1718.
