A native of Erath and resident of Delcambre, Mr. Bourque passed away at 6:00 pm on Sunday October 16, 2011 at Abbeville General.
Mr. Bourque was a 1971 graduate of Delcambre High School and received a BA degree from the University of Southwestern LA in 1975. He has been involved in education since his graduation. He began his career as a fifth grade teacher at Railroad Avenue Elementary, then a sixth grade teacher at Park Elementary. Cory became a math teacher and Jr. High Coach at Delcambre High School in 1977 until 1987. Cory had an immeasurable amount of pride and love for Delcambre High School, the students and the community. He was an administrator that was loved by his faculty and student body. He always pursued excellence in every aspect of his life. He took much pleasure in standing on the side line for a DHS Panther football game and raising his arms to indicate "Touchdown Panthers."
Cory was also very active with the Delcambre Shrimp Festival. He was responsible for boiling the shrimp, and always wanted to be sure that they were enjoyed by all.
The love he had for his wife was undeniable, but he also had a special love for his English bulldog "Squeezer"
Cory looked forward to spending time with his family and DHS extended family upon his retirement in January. He also enjoyed spending time at his camp, camping and hunting. He will be missed by the community of Delcambre, Delcambre High School and his family for all of the love and support he always so willingly gave.
