Cynthia Christie Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Mar. 18, 2014.

- SAVANNAH - Cynthia Annell Hollingsworth Christie (Cindy), adored wife of Charles Christie, and simply amazing sister, mother and grandmother, went home to be with her Lord, on Sunday, March 16, 2014. Cindy was born to Ray and Janell Hollingsworth in Savannah, Georgia on November 16, 1957. Cindy was a loving wife, an incredible mother of two children, and an awesome grandmother to 5 grandchildren who forever renamed her "LaLa".
LaLa was an icon at the City of Savannah's St. Patrick's Day celebrations. She claimed ownership to a tree on West Bay Street along the parade route and dared a soul to encroach on her family's rightful claim. Family members and friends all knew they could find her "at the tree", on St. Patrick's Day. Lala's real love for the holiday began 40 years ago when she met her husband, Charles Christie during the annual festivities. Her family believes that LaLa choose to leave this Earth during the same weekend so that she might forever claim ownership to this holiday. Her family would like to thank the City of Savannah and all its citizens for the fabulous parade that was held downtown in her honor on Monday, March 17th, 2014.
Cindy was preceded in death by her father, Ray Hollingsworth. She is survived by her husband Charles Christie; mother Janell Hollingsworth; daughter Jeresia Noris (Jose Luis) of Atlanta, GA son Cory Christie of Adeliano, CA; brothers William E. Hollingsworth (Janet) of Odum, GA and Raymond T. Hollingsworth (Terese) of Guyton, GA. Other survivors include her grandchildren Michael, Christopher, Christian Steade, Angel, and Camila Noris as well as many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Funeral services will be conducted on Thursday March 20, 2014, at 1pm at Fairhaven Funeral Home, Hubert C. Baker Chapel with Dr. Terry Wilson officiating. The family will receive friends today, Wednesday, March 19, 2014, from 6-8pm at Fairhaven Funeral Home, Hubert C. Baker Chapel.

She was the first woman to turn my hair purple on purpose. Spending evenings in her shop were more like a girls' night out than an appointment. She will be missed.
