Dale Caine Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Nov. 11, 2013.

Dale Hugheston Caine was born on August 14, 1924 in Greensboro, North Carolina. He was the oldest son of 12 children by Robert Hugheston Caine and Abbie Dale Caine. Early in Dale's life he served as a Pharmacists Mate, Second Class, in the United States Navy during WWII. He was honorably discharged after proudly serving his country. Upon returning, Dale pursued a career as a machinist at Lockheed Martin in Burbank, CA. Soon after starting his career he married and began a family with Erma Justice of Kansas City, Missouri. On June 23, 1952 Dale and Erma celebrated the birth of their son, Richard Dale Caine. Five years later they welcomed their daughter, Gail Lynn Caine (now Eldridge), who was born on October 18, 1957.

In 1970 Dale married Margret Isabelle Lewis at a 'Square Dancing' wedding here in Los Angeles, CA. They became dedicated members of the First Baptist Church of Van Nuys; carefully selecting this congregation for their thriving deaf ministry. Deaf culture was incredibly important to Dale since his father was hearing impaired, and as a youth Dale lovingly served as his interpreter. After the congregation moved to Porter Ranch, CA, Dale turned his passion of gardening into a prosperous ministry, contributing to various projects including the Deaf Ministry. Dale's Garden Ministry also helped fund numerous domestic and international philanthropic projects sponsored by Shepherd of the Hills Church.
Throughout Dale's joyful life, he was a dedicated husband, father, and grandfather. He and his late wife Isabelle welcomed family to their home throughout the year for holiday celebrations and summer BBQs at their pool. His life was full of faith, community, family, and love. His last days were as he lived his life, surrounded by family and friends, comfortably at home. Dale gracefully passed away on November 6, 2013 at 2:22pm at the age of 89 years old with his daughter, grandchildren, and friend at his side. The love and joy he had for life will be deeply missed and always remembered by his family and friends.
