Dan G. Hunt, age 71, of Greenville, Ohio, passed away Wednesday, November 7, 2012 at 12:20 PM at Good Samaritan Hospital in Dayton, Ohio. He was born on October 1, 1941 in Greenville, Ohio, to the late George W. & Beatrice (Blakeley) Hunt.
Dan is survived by his wife Hattie (Vanata) Hunt of Greenville whom he married on August 31, 1963; son, Chris Hunt and Fiancée Dawn Beavers of Greenville; daughter and son in law, Michele & Terry Cook of Bradford, Ohio; grandchildren, Kirstie Hunt, Sydney Hunt, Reece Hunt, Alia Hunt, Shantelle Holeton, Vanessa Cook, Ashley Cook, Dylan Garland, and Bailey Bach; 9 great grandchildren; siblings, Joan (Gene) Dowler of New Madison, Ohio, Joe (Cheryl) Hunt of New Madison, Ohio, and Bonnie (Bill Burkett) Perry of Greenville; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Dan worked at Schultz Motors for 32 years as a mechanic before teaching Auto Tech at Greenville High School for 11 years. He was a member of the Liar's Club, Annie Oakley Rifle Club, and Moose Lodge. A lifetime member of the National Rifle Association and Ohio Gun Collectors Association. He was a gun smith and enjoyed guns and target shooting.
A memorial service will be held on Thursday, December 6, 2012 6:00 PM at Zechar Bailey Funeral Home, Greenville, Ohio, with Pastor Terry Haworth officiating. Family will receive friends on Thursday from 5:00 – 6:00 PM at the funeral home.
