Daniel Lee Allen, 81 of Inglis, FL died Fri., Jan. 7, 2011 at 7 Rivers Hospital in Crystal River. Born in Inglis Dec. 19, 1929, he was the son of the late Dewey D. Allen. former Mayor of Inglis and Vivian Allen long time Post Master of Inglis. He was an award winning News Correspondent with 16 years of service with AFN Europe, an Emmy Award winning Writer/Producer for WWBM-TV and WLS-TV in Chicago and WJLA-TV in Washington D. C. Dan served in the U S Air Force as a Pilot, and was a graduate of the University Of Florida.
He is survived by his sisters, Dorothy L. Allen and Sherry E. Douglas both of Kernersville, NC; niece Patricia Canady of Myrtle Beach, SC, and long time companion, Gunter Mewes of Inglis.
Funeral services will be held 11 a. m., Wednesday, Jan. 12 at Wilder Funeral Home, Homosassa Springs. Friends will be received from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan 11 at the Funeral Home. The burial will be private at Hickory Island Cemetery.
