Services to honor Daniel will be 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, October 9, 2013 at Chapel Hill Funeral Home with interment and military honors to follow. Daniel passed away Sunday, October 6, 2013. He was born April 26, 1927 in Shidler, Oklahoma to George Lewis and Verna Ann (Wood) Hocker. Daniel was a WWII Veteran and proudly served our country in the US Navy on the USS Hadley as a gunner. He recently received a purple heart for his service and bravery. He also retired from the US Postal service after 30 plus years. He is survived by two daughters, Janie Blevins, Danna Drumm and husband Richard; stepchildren, Doris and Mike Lafferty; 7 grandchildren, Brett Drumm and wife Julie, Buck Drumm and wife Tiffany, Richard Blevins, Gary Blevins and wife Angie, Sandra Nelson and husband Curt, James Hocker, Jr. and Brent Hocker Garman; 8 great-grandchildren and several great-great grandchildren; one sister, Imogene Duncan and husband Max. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Wanda; son, James Lee Hocker, Sr., three brothers, Charles, Norman, Robert and one sister, Patricia. Daniel will be fondly remembered by his family as a loving and compassionate man.
