Darrell "DJ" Jones
Passed away at the age of 62 after a courageous battle with cancer. He was known as "DJ" to family and friends. He leaves behind his wife and partner in life, Lizabeth. They were married for 42 years and have a son, Jason Jones. To those he allowed close enough to share his thoughts he often talked about how proud he was of the man that Jason had become.
He was a member of the Hupa Tribe and spent a majority of his life living on the REZ. He enjoyed the solitude of fishing, which he acquired from his grandfather, Gabby (George Randall). He spent his time hanging out with friends and family hunting, cutting wood and handling the everyday issues that come with living in one of the most rugged rural areas in Humboldt County.
He enjoyed growing a vegetable garden every year with his wife by his side. He recently became a licensed locksmith with hopes of practicing the skill.
He is preceded in death by his father, Clayton T. Jones, brothers, Richard and Francis Jones; and nephew Richard Jones, Jr.
He is survived by his wife, Lizabeth and son, Jason Jones; daughter-in-law Holly; granddaughter Harmony and grandson Robert; mother, Catherine Jones; brothers; Stanley and David Jones; sisters; Saundra Werner and Laura Wright; aunts; Esther Davis and Sharon Bibancos; and many cousins, nephews, nieces, and friends.
Arrangements are being handled by Pierce Mortuary. Funeral Services will be held at the Assembly of God Church in Hoopa beginning at 1:00pm on Tuesday, January 31, 2012.
Pall bearers are Clyde Moon, George Moon, Kevin Lane, Steve Werner, Adrian Euan and Roger Sanderson. Honorary Pall Bearers are Billy McCovey, Beer Can Jackson, Patrick Stockhoff, John Curphey, Glen Jones, Robert Bennett, Jack Bennett, Kenny Lucas, Carl Wilson, Bud Clark, Page Matilton, Ray Matilton, George Lewis, Roland Davis, Stanley and David Jones, Darin Randall.

My heart goes out to you and your family. I will miss visiting with Darrell at the Tish Tang fishing hole. He was always so kind to my grandchildren while they played along the Trinity River.
