Dave F. Bliss
It is with great sorrow that the family of Dave Bliss announces his passing on Tuesday, May 31, 2011 at the Riverside Health Care in Fort Frances, ON with his family by his side
He was born on December 8, 1950 in Fort Frances, ON to David and Katie Bliss. He was raised in Mine Centre attending public school there, graduating from the Fort Frances High School and furthered his education in carpentry at George Brown College. He started his construction career with Silver and Kircher in 1969. He held numerous superintendent positions through the local 1669 Carpenters and Joiners Union with firms Stead and Lindstrom, Sam Veltric and Tom Jones. He operated his own business Dave Bliss Building Contracting until his retirement. Even when Dave wasn't working he was tinkering in the garage, taking things apart just to put them back together, and he also enjoyed wood working. He had a meticulous work ethic and was well respected for his work in the Fort Frances area. On September 26, 1970 he was united in marriage to Denise Bonot and together they settled in Fort Frances to raise their family. He loved being outdoors and returned to Mine Centre often to fish and snowmobile. He was well known for being an avid radar runner with his Ski-Doo's bringing home more than one trophy at a time.
Dave leaves behind his wife Denise; daughters Shannon and husband Derek Jackson, Laureen (Beanie) and husband Brent Lowes; grandsons Davis, Jace and Landon; father David W. Bliss; siblings Tony (Louise), Kathy (Bob), Richard (Joanne) and Jim (Linda); brothers-in-law Bryan (June) and Nevin (Diane) Bonot; nieces and nephews Kim Jo and Shane Bliss, Jamie McDonald, Todd Bliss, Tanis Klingsiek, Brande Bliss, Brittney Aason, Abraham Germain, Jackie McCormick, Rick, Trevor and Giselle and Michelle Bonot and their families.
He was predeceased by his mother Katie on August 16, 1997 and his mother and father-in-law Dorothy and Art Bonot.
A come and go tea in celebration of Dave's life will be held on Friday, June 3, 2011 from 1 to 3 p.m. at the Royal Canadian Legion, Fort Frances, Ontario.
Cremation has taken place at the Rainy River Crematory in International Falls, MN.
