David Earl Adams, age 68, passed on October 12, 2011 at his residence in Brownsville, Texas with his loving wife also caregiver Frances, son Chris, dear friends Judy and Mary. and caring nurse Juan at his side. David won the battle of pancreatic cancer for 18 months. He fought to the very end.
David was born in North East, PA on October 1, 1943 to Archie Merle Adams and Jessie Annabel Burt. David joined the Army in 1962, served our country "The United States of America" 3 years. David was employed by IBM in 1968 until his retirement in 1993. David enjoyed golfing, camping, hunting, fishing and especially loved gathering with all his friends and did with every opportunity. David was a very giving and caring person. He would always help in any way he could.
David will be greatly missed by all his family and friends.
David is preceded in death by his parents Archie and Jessie Adams, father and mother-in-law Paul A. and Frances Clough Longoria, his sister Elsie, brother-in-law Bernard Alcorn, and also Great Aunt Dorothy.
David is survived by his loving wife, Frances; son, David Christopher; granddaughter, Therese Adams; daughter-in-law, Lori Jane; sisters, Thelma Alcorn and Nancy (Quintin) Ayrault; brothers, Dallas (Roberta) Adams and Neil (Cleo) Adams; sister-in-law, Sylvia (Ruben) Rodriguez; brothers-in-law, Paul John Longoria, Frank (Alexandra) Longoria and Richard (Mari) Longoria; several nieces and nephews; and also many great nieces and nephews.
David was blessed to meet the latest great nephew Michael this past summer. David married Frances on July 21, 1979 and they were blessed with 32 years of marriage.
David and I would like to say "Thank-You" and great appreciation to Texas Oncology and Staff. A special thanks to Dr. Paul A. Lenz M.D. who goes over and beyond with all his patients. The staff at Odyssey Hospice, Juan Ruiz, R.N. who also went over and beyond in David's care!
The family will receive guests for a time of visitation on Friday, October 21, 2011 from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. at Cook-Walden Davis Funeral Home in Georgetown, Texas. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Saturday, October 22, 2011 The Worship Place in Sun City, Georgetown. Interment will follow at Cook-Walden Memorial Hill Cemetery in Pflugerville, Texas.
Pallbearers will be Frank E. Longoria, Paul J. Longoria, William Clough, Edward Molina, Steve Garza, and Frank E. Longoria Jr.
