David R. Amundson, 60, of Duluth passed away October 10, 2013 at Solvay Hospice House in Duluth. He was born December 1952 in Duluth to Robert and Jane Amundson. David graduated from Proctor High School in 1971. During his high school years he worked at Shopper's City and in 1972 joined the Army. He served in Germany until 1975 in the Army/United States Air Force. David returned to Duluth and worked at the Army Air Base as a civilian until 1978. In 1979 he moved to Minneapolis and joined the Active Guard- Reserves and continued his Army career until 2003 when he retired with 28 years of service. In addition to Minneapolis, David was stationed in Omaha, Nebraska and St. Louis, Missouri.
Dave loved antique car shows, taking care of his yard, and his dogs.
He is preceded in death by his parents and brother, John.
Dave is survived by his sisters, Linda (Otis "Andy") Anderson of Duluth and Gloria (Ron) Whiles of Winter Haven, Florida; aunt and uncle, Lillian and Donald Amundson of Lewiston, Idaho; one nephew; five nieces; three great nieces; three great nephews; and his four-legged best friend, Zippy.
Dave would also like to give a special thanks to longtime friend Betty; Maryann, Milt and Betty, Matt, and John for being such special friends and neighbors.
Services will be held Monday, October 14, 2013 at Bell Brothers Funeral Home in West Duluth at 11:00 AM with a visitation one hour prior to services. Inurnment at Oneota Cemetery.
