David Bengtson, 62, of Independence, Missouri, died at his home on Thursday, August 23, 2012. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, August 29, 2012 at St. Peter's Catholic Church, 6415 Holmes Rd. Burial will be in Johnson County Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be 6:00-8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, August 28th at the McGilley Midtown Chapel where the Rosary will be prayed at 7 p.m. The family requests contributions to the Heartland Chapter of the American Humane Society.
David was born on July 23, 1950 in Kansas City, Missouri to William and Helen (Westerman) Bengtson. He graduated from Southwest High School and Penn Valley Community College. He was a proud Marine veteran. He was a passionate restaurateur in Kansas City for many years. He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, William, Albert and Ray; and brother-in-law, Mark Hernanadez. David's survivors include two daughters, Laura Fuller (Corey) and Christie Woolard (Jason), both of Denver, CO; brother, Carl Bengtson (Kathy), Merriam, KS; two sisters, Jeanne Hernandez, Kansas City, MO, and Jacqueline Thurston (Jerry) of Raytown, MO; granddaughter, Thaeryn Fuller, and numerous extended family members
