David John Gutierrez born July 25, 1963 passed on January 18, 2013. He will be greatly missed by his wife of 31 years, Maria Quinones Gutierrez; children, Jessica Eten and her husband James, David John Gutierrez Jr. and wife Veronica, Damien Gutierrez and wife Maria, Chris "Bubba" Gutierrez, Joshua Gutierrez and Ellena Gutierrez; grandchildren, Hailey, Trinity and Xander Eten, Ariel, Jasmine Troy and Lylana Gutierrez.
David was a loving and loyal father, grandfather and friend. His legacy will be carried in the hearts of all who knew him. His sense of humor and joy will continue through his children and grandchildren.
David was Houston Police Officer for 26 yrs. He took great pride and joy in his career and greatly enjoyed putting the uniform on every evening.
He was a loving, caring and proud PaPa. There was no greater joy in his life than being with his 7 grandchildren. He has left them with so many valuable lessons and fantastic stories.
Our Dad touched so many lives and inspired so many people. Through coaching little league teams to always having an "open door" policy at our house, everyone was always welcome.
He loved to wake early in the morning and go fishing; Dad was always in search of that great fishing spot. (We all know that he's found it now.)
During his lifetime here with us he made sure to pass on the lessons he learned to each of his 6 children. From working hard to being the best you can be at whatever it is you're doing. His words of wisdom will NEVER be forgotten. He was not only an outstanding father but one of the best friends anyone one of us could have ever known.
His way of life is truly an example to emulate. His accomplishment will live forever through the lives of his seven grandchildren, and by the stories told by their parents about him.
He always put everyone fist before himself, friends, family and yes, even strangers.
Our dad David was a very distinguished man. Somehow dad always found a connection with everyone, no matter who they were. He even treated them like they were his own. He has left giant shoes for us to fill, but I know that the lessons he passed down to us will surely help us to progress throughout our lives.
David always put everyone first before himself. He always made sure he was there for each and every one of us. Games, Plays, graduations, vacations, and more. Showing up for Law enforcement day at school was our favorite because every one that he was OUR dad and we were so happy and PROUD. We laughed and cried, but he was always there. We all enjoyed our adventures with him and the stories he told.
Our dad David just wasn't a dad he was a coach that everyone loved and he was also the world's best fishing Buddy. No matter how bad we messed up his rods he would still sit there and fix it with no problem. He would also tell the most amazing "cop" stories. He sure will be missed by all because he was the greatest person in the world and a phenomenal father, He was our "Fishing Buddy"
To try and sum our father up in words is impossible, He will be forever missed and it will take us all a long time for the pain to ease. It's not fair that he was taken so soon. But the lord has decided that he needs Dad up there, and I know that he is taking great pride in being called so early to carry out God's plan. We miss you Daddy and we all know you're watching.
Please Remember our Dad.
