Delio G. Barrera, of Bishop, Texas was called to his true home by Our Lord Jesus Christ on December 5, 2011.
Delio was born on May 23, 1937, in Ramirez, Texas to Otila and Locario Barrera. He is survived by his children, two sisters and twelve grandchildren.
Delio was blessed with a great love of family, song, joy and a passion for "la guitara". He loved cooking, baseball, football, boxing, fishing, plants, and sharing time with his grandchildren and family.
Delio was loved by many for his humor, his welcoming personality and his generosity. He enjoyed the friendship of countless people of all ages, and made instant friends wherever he went.
Delio spent his last days surrounded by family, prayer, and song. Though words cannot express the sorrow in parting from our dad, Pop knew the love of Our Lord Jesus, and we, his children, family and friends look forward to joining Delio G. Barrera someday in eternal praise and worship.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, December 7, 2011 from 10:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m. with a rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 8, 2011 at St. James Catholic Church, Bishop, Texas.
