Della Mae Alexander

June 23, 1921 - March 4, 2012
Della Mae Alexander, 90, who devoted her life to educating children,
passed away peacefully Sunday evening, March 4, 2012, holding the hand
of her nephew, Thomas Hoke.

She was born in Landis, June 23, 1921, to John Ulysses and Fannie Kirk
Alexander. She graduated from Landis High School and Catawba
College. She enjoyed a rewarding teaching career that spanned 41
years, most of which as a much loved teacher at Landis Elementary
School where she was named "Teacher of the Year." She lived her final
five years actively amongst many friends at Trinity Oaks Retirement
Home in Salisbury.

Della will forever be remembered as sweet, loving and compassionate,
always doing for others. One of the youngest of thirteen children,
she selflessly spent many years as caregiver to one loved one after
another, until she was the last of her family's generation.

She is survived by nine nieces and nine nephews, and many great-nieces
and great-nephews, as well as great-great-nieces and great-great-
nephews, each of whom she dearly loved.

Visitation: The family will receive friends Wednesday, March 7, from
7 - 9 pm at Linn-Honeycutt Funeral Home in Landis.

Service: Funeral services will be held Thursday, March 8, at 11 am at
Mt. Zion United Church of Christ in China Grove, where she was a
faithful member. Rev. Mark Burns will officiate, and burial will
follow at Greenlawn Cemetery.
