Dewey D. Dorman, age 85 of West Salem, IL passed into Eternity on October 30, 2012 at Richland Memorial Hospital Long Term Care, Olney, IL.
Dewey was born September 30, 1927 in West Salem to Etta Grace (Orrel) and Gerald R. Dorman. After Etta passed away, Gerald married Hilda (Schwarzlose) Dorman, who raised Dewey as if he were her own son.
Dewey married Irene Lomas on December 3, 1949 at the Free Methodist Church in West Salem.
He was a proud Army Veteran, enlisting and serving from 1946 to 1947.
In his younger years, he worked at several jobs, including the oil fields and in timber.
Dewey began working at Champion Laboratories on October 14, 1958 and retired on February 28, 1992, after thirty three years. Following his retirement, he worked part time for Wilson and Wilson Monument Company.
He was preceded in death by his parents, step mother and three brothers: Gilbert, Dick and Lonnie.
Dewey is survived by his wife of 62 years, Irene, two daughters: Renita and husband Dwight Nelson of Browns, IL, and Brenda and husband Randy Anderson of Blowing Rock, NC. He is also survived by six grandchildren: Christina and husband Jamie McCorkle, Teresa and husband Josh McFarland, Ryan and wife Jennifer Anderson, Chris and wife Sylvia Anderson, Kyle Anderson and Emma Anderson. Eight great-grandchildren also survive: Elliot and Sarah McCorkle, Paige, Sally and Ian McFarland, Landen Pinnick,, Bryson and Aiden Anderson.
Funeral services for Dewey D. Dorman will be at 1PM, Friday, November 2, 2012 at Ingram Funeral Home in West Salem, IL. Burial will follow at the Macedonia Cemetery with military rites. Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 PM, Thursday, November 1, 2012 at the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to The Parkinson 's Disease Foundation, in memory of Dewey.
