Dickens Chakuroff, 87, entered into eternal life on Thursday, April 18, 2013.
Born in North Providence, he was a son of the late George and Marika (Evonoff) Chakuroff. He was the beloved husband of the late Ruth V. (Burnside) Chakuroff; beloved father of Janice DiLustro and Dickens Chakuroff and his wife Stephanie; cherished grandfather of four; brother of John Chakuroff and his wife Betty and the late George "Chico" Chakuroff and Tzanko "Sarchie" Chakuroff; uncle of two nephews and five nieces.
He was a WWII Navy veteran, who served on the U.S.S. Battleship Nevada that engaged in five invasions, Normandy, Marseilles, Toulon, Iwo Jima and Okinawa. He also was a member of the Geneva Volunteer Fire Dept., a member of Local Union 94 Carpenters and he was a superintendent for Donatelli Building Co. for over 25 years.
Visitation Friday, 4-7 p.m. Funeral Saturday at 9:30 a.m. followed by a service at 10 a.m. in the PONTARELLI-MARINO Home, 971 Branch Avenue, Providence. Burial to follow with military honors in Acotes Hill Cemetery, 1049 Putnam Pike, Chepachet. In lieu of flowers, donations to the
