I have had the pleasure of knowing Don and the Dunn family for many years during our winters in Florida. Chris, Don and myself have spent many hours over great coffee and conversation times. Don's humour, wisdom and advice have enriched my life and enjoyment while in Florida. These fond memories of Don are instilled in my heart and will never be forgotten. May he rest in peace.

In his hometown of Norwich, Don's father was a policeman, who kept many of us out of trouble. He was called "Putt," so Don was too. He was very proud of his only son, a local boy who "done good." It was a pleasure to know them both. All of us in Norwich send our sincere condolences.

I had the honor of serving as Don's assistant in the late 1970's and those four years will forever stand out in my memories. Don was bigger than life. When he entered a room the sun rose and everyone wanted to bask in his light. He had a profound impact on my life and set the standard for everything I aspired to be.
May the outpouring of love from the multitudes that come forward to pay their respects bring comfort to his family in this time of great loss.

In 1982, shortly after learning we were cousins, Don invited me up to the University Club for lunch. As a recent college grad having lunch with a man of his accomplishments and in an environment like that could have been very intimidating. But Don, in his soft spoken manner, was so gracious and encouraging it was anything but that and he instantly became a person I wanted to emulate. I'm glad we were able to see each other at the reunion.
I'm pleased that through knowing Don I got to know Katie Wallace and meet Chris.
My condolences to Marian and the entire family. Don leaves a wonderful family and a great legacy.

We are so fortunate to have had the opportunity to have Mr. Dunn in our lives. He and Mrs. Dunn played such an important role in my life when meeting his daughter Patty who became one of my best friends after they moved to Clearwater. I am sure he put up with a lot in our teenage years. He drove us to concerts in Tampa in what we called "The Dunn Mobile", a station wagon loaded with teenage girls. We tie dyed t-shirts, dyed hair, had many sleepovers at his house and I am sure drove him crazy, but he was always cool! He even taught me to drink Black Jack with water on the plane ride to Syracuse with John Martin for Patty's wedding. He told me I was ruining it with ginger ale. When I was starting college he asked me what I wanted to do and I said I needed to get a job. He told me to go to Maas Brothers and apply. I knew he did something there just didn't realize it was "So Big"! That was the beginning of my retail career as well as meeting my husband to be Mike. I am so grateful for all Mr. Dunn has given me over these years. He is such a special man and to so many people.
To the Dunn Family-Our love, sympathies and prayers are with you. We know Mr. Dunn will be living in all the hearts of those he has touched and he has touched so many. We are all better to have know him.
All Our Love,
Sherry and Michael Roithmayr

I am filled with gratitude that because of the Maas Reunion last April, I was able to see Mr. Dunn again, visit with Mrs. Dunn and son Chris, and once again thank him for everything he did for me and my family during the 23 years that I was privileged to be his Executive Assistant. He was a man who set high standards for all his people, challenged them to excel and reach their potential and sprinkled it all with a sparkling wit, humor and compassion. An ad in the Tampa Tribune led me to apply for a job at Maas Brothers and then an interview by a young Vice President of Operations, Donald Dunn, whose blue eyes snapped with intelligence. He had a very positive impact on my life and was a blessing, indeed, during all the years we worked together and I will always, always remember. My thoughts and prayers go out to his wonderful family. May he rest in peace and may the love of his countless friends comfort the Dunn Family. Love and God Bless.

I remember the summer of I believe 1966 when the Dunn's moved to Clearwater. There was an immediate friendship our families struck that continues to this day. I can recall various trips in one of the Lincoln convertibles or the woody wagon that your dad would drive; your dad letting us build the large tree fort in the woods by the house. He loved his family which was and is evident in all that he did.... he was a great family man & was greatly respected by those who knew him....he will be missed by many. May the Lord comfort & bless you during this time....we morn with you in your loss.
WE love the Dunn Family!

Don Dunn was so very unique in that he truly dedicated himself to making everyone around him better than one thought they could be. Only great men have this gift that comes from being totally self-confident in their selves, devoid of petty jealousy, and believing that nothing can be accomplished without the enthusiastic dedication of a highly motivated team. He constantly made each one of feel that we were the most important person on his team. He always knew how to ask for more than we thought we could ever accomplish. He changed my life. He gave me the belief that I could compete and accomplish important things. I subsequently never experienced anywhere else the jolt of energy that I felt every time those clear blue piercing all- knowing eyes looked at me or after being told that Mr. Dunn wanted to see me. I consider myself extremely lucky to have had the greatest fortune to have known and worked for Donald F. Dunn.

Chris - My daughter Nancy (Dacy) whom I'm sure you fondly remember, always thought your Dad was very special. Their "talk" several years ago, at my request, where his wisdom in retailing and other things was shared, has stayed with her to this day. I think she was handling 4-5 Victoria Secret stores at that time. We'll never forget his generous, humorous nature.
