Services for Mrs. Donis Jean Alexander will be held Saturday, April 19 at 2:30 pm at Duffee Baptist Church. Rev. Mike Ragland and Rev. Wayne Campbell will be officiating. Burial will be in Duffee Baptist Church Cemetery. Stephens Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Alexander, 80, of Duffee, passed away at home Thursday, April 17. After four years of declining health, stricken by strokes, she died in the arms of her husband, R.E. Alexander, who lovingly cared for her. The family is comforted in knowing that Jean (Aunt Jean to her nieces and nephews) is now in Heaven with our Lord and with a perfect body free of stroke.
Jean and R.E. had a loving marriage for 63 years that set the supreme example for all marriages. They had a full life of work, travel and family but above all, Jean and R.E. were devoted to one another. They lived and worked in Jackson before retiring back to Duffee in 1992. Jean had a business career of her own in Jackson and did a tremendous job of balancing her career while supporting the many business and farming ventures of R.E. They hosted many family "get togethers" in their home where Jean always had something good cooked to eat. R.E. always ended those "get togethers" with his quote " Tell the ones you love that you love them every day, they may not be here tomorrow." Jean was a loving wife and good homemaker as well as a good cook.
She was "Aunt Jean" to 17 nieces and nephews who loved her very much and always enjoyed going to her house. She is survived by R.E. Alexander, her husband, and nieces and nephews,
William Boatner, Gary Boatner, Martha Skinner, Rodney Calvert, Stan Ward, Cassie Alexander, Lisa Huffaker, Tjwanna Torgerson, Vickie Poythress, Tony Calvert, Linda Beck, Jill Carlberg, Mike Smith, Debra Hayes, Marsha Timms, Rick Gilbert and John Gilbert.
Pallbearers will be Rick Gilbert, Tony Calvert, Rick Carlberg, Eric Gilbert, David Skinner, and Rodney Calvert.
Visitation will be Friday from 5pm-8pm at Stephens Funeral Home.
Visitation will also be one hour prior to the service at the church.

Uncle RE You always reminded us at family gatherings how important family is. We wouldn't always be able to get together, life is short. Yesterday as we laid Aunt Jean to rest, it was a reminder of that. However, today being Easter we are reminded that we serve a risen Savior and one day we will once again be with those we love! Uncle RE, may this bring you some comfort. We love you!
