Donnie Lynn Smith, 50, passed away Monday, November 4, 2013, in Merkel, TX. A graveside service will be 2:00 p.m., Thursday, November 7, 2013, in Midway Cemetery, Hodges, TX, directed by Community Memorial Funeral Home, 1443 N. 2nd St., Abilene. Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Donnie was born on May 10, 1963 in Anson, TX to Rev. Willie Earl and Rubye M. Caldwell Smith.

Donnie was a Baptist. He loved church and loved people. He was involved in swimming and bowling in the Special Olympics. Donnie had many special friends, aunts and uncles, and touched many lives.

Preceding him in death were his father, Rev. Willie Smith; and two brothers, Tony and Craig Smith.

Survivors include his mother, Rubye Smith; one brother, Gervis Smith and wife, Lorrie of San Antonio; nephews, Jason & Garrett Smith of San Antonio; and numerous loving family members.
