Dorothy Bansept

February 20, 1917 - March 9, 2012
Dorothy Bansept, 95, of Manchester, NJ, passed away at the Hampton Ridge Nursing Home, Toms River, NJ. She was born, raised and lived in Staten Island, NY, before moving to Manchester 25 years ago. Dorothy worked as a Note Teller for Chase Manhattan Bank, S.I, NY, for 30 years and retired in 1982. Dorothy was a member of the Church of St. Andrew in Richmondtown, SI, and served on the Altar Guild; she was also an active member of Christ Episcopal Church of Toms River; a member of the Huguenot Garden Club and the Huguenot Chapter Eastern Star. Dorothy was a matriarch of three generations, was an 11th generation descendent of Walter Palmer who arrived in Mass. in 1629. And she was a 6th generation descendent of Manees and Weirs on Staten Island. She was a graduate of Tottenville High School, S.I. class of 1934. Dorothy married Raymond Bansept on October 28, 1942. She volunteered at Halloran Hospital, S.I., during WWII (for wounded soldiers). After retirement, both Dorothy and Raymond traveled to Florida for winter vacations; she was active with lifelong friends in Raymond's Masonic East Club, and also active in bowling leagues on Staten Island and in Leisure Knoll.
Dorothy was predeceased by her husband, Raymond L. Bansept (1997). She is survived by her daughters, Sandra Braniff and her husband, Tom, of Staten Island, NY, Nancy La Fata of Manchester, NJ and Judy Giordano and her husband, Jack, of Edison, NJ, her 4 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday March 13, 2012, from 2-4 & 7-9 pm at the Anderson & Campbell Funeral Home, 3010 Ridgeway Road, Manchester, NJ 08759. A Mass will be offered on March 14, 2012 at 11:30 am, at the Christ Episcopal Church, 415 Washington Street, Toms River, NJ 08753, with burial to follow at the Brig. WC Doyle Veteran Memorial Cemetery, Wrightstown, NJ. Please visit www.andersoncampbellmanchester.com for tributes or directions.
