Mrs. Dorothy F. Barnes, 77, of Charlotte, passed away Sunday, December 26, 2010 in Carolina's Medical Center.
She was born September 11, 1933, in Carbondale, PA to Frances and Dorothy Wannacutt Holtzmaster. She was a caring and devoted wife and mother. She was a member of University City UMC for 18 years, She belonged to the University City Women's Club and to The Red Hat Society. She enjoyed cooking and baking for her friends and family, and was famous for her scratch-made pie crust.
She is survived by her loving husband of 55 years, Ray Barnes, her three sons, Ron Barnes, Dave Barnes (Debbie) of Apex, Norm Barnes (Cheryl Turner) of Charlotte; her three grandchildren, Scott Barnes of Greenville, SC, Kati and Kevin Barnes of Apex; her sister, Marquerite Harrington, her two brothers, Donald Holtzmaster and Ken Holtzmaster.
The family will receive friends from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM Wednesday, December 29, 2010 in McEwen Funeral Service Derita Chapel 6300 Mallard Creek Road. A memorial service will take place 10:00 AM Thursday, December 30, 2010 in University City UMC 3835 W. W.T. Harris Blvd.
