NEW IBERIA – Funeral services will be celebrated for Dorsey J. "Dado" Barras, Jr., age 49, at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, August 28, 2012 at Evangeline Funeral Home. Deacon Patrick Burke will officiate. Interment will follow in St. Bernard Cemetery #2 in Breaux Bridge.
A gathering of family and friends will be held at Evangeline Funeral Home of New Iberia on Tuesday from 8:00 am until services.
Dorsey was born October 21, 1962 to Dorsey and Joyce Domingue Barras, Sr. in Lafayette and passed away Friday, August 24, 2012 in New Iberia.
Known by family and friends as "Dado", Dorsey was mechanic with Arceneaux Ford in New Iberia for over 27 years. He enjoyed being outdoors, and spent many memorable times camping and cooking for his family. He will be missed dearly by all who knew and loved him.
Survivors include his children, D.J. Barras, III, John Barras, and Kristy Barras all of New Iberia, and Matthew and Derick Barras of St. Martinville; four grandchildren, Rya Thibodeaux, Kinland Barras, Dakota Barras, and Khloe Gaspard; his former wife, Sheila Rebert Gardner of St. Martinville; three brothers, Robert Barras of Breaux Bridge, Eric Barras of Cecilia, and Raymond Barras of St. Martinville; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Pallbearers will be D. J. Barras, III, John Barras, Matthew Barras, Robert Barras, Eric Barras, and Joshua Gaspard.
Honorary pallbearers will be Derick Barras, and Raymond Barras.
