Edgar "Ed" Charles Beaver, 65, of Culver, MN passed away unexpectedly from a tragic highway accident on May 14, 2013.
Ed was born in Harrisburg, PA on April 16, 1948 to John Kenneth and Elizabeth Beaver. He grew up in St. Louis, MO, graduating from McCluer High School in Florissant, MO in 1966. He then moved to Columbia, MO where he trained as a piano tuner and worked for the Humane Society.
Ed moved to Duluth in 1979 where he attended UMD, earning a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communications. While living in Duluth, Ed worked for the Masters Piano Shop, the Cloquet Pine Knot, Cloquet Journal, Hermantown Star, and the Spooner Advocate, where he published a column called "Beaver Tails."
Ed eventually became self-employed as a piano tuner and also went on to work as a truck driver for Timberline Trucking and North Shore Oil and Propane.
Ed was an incredible writer and story teller. His passion for people and conversation was unmatched. He was a man of the outdoors and loved nature. From his time spent as a boy scout and canoe racer to the time spent hunting, fishing, and camping, Ed shared every adventure with family and friends.
He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Ed was preceded in death by his parents; and step-son, Monty Lyons.
He is survived by his wife, Cathy; son Nate (his wife and Ed's daughter-in-law, Abagail); step-son, Corey; grandchildren, Rayne Robison, Dane Wilson, Dominic Lyons; sister, Carol Snyder; brother, Jack Beaver; and many other family and friends.
Visitation: 5-7 p.m., Sunday, May 19 at Bell Brothers Funeral Home, 601 N 56th Ave W, in Duluth.
