Edna Marie Hansens Anthony was born on July 14, 1926 in Kingfisher Oklahoma to Ellen Bryant Hansens and Adolph August Hansens. She was preceded in death by both of her parents. She passed away peacefully at Heavenly Acres Adult Family Home in Graham Washington on Saturday April 7th, 2012.
Edna attended Big Four School in Kingfisher Oklahoma and graduated in 1944. She married George Thomas Anthony in December 1944 and had 3 children. She was a long time member of various churches and was a devoted Sunday School Teacher for 30 years. Her life calling was caring for her family and home and she did this with incredible devoted strength. She and George became foster parents in their early middle age and she loved each child as if it were her own. They adopted two of these babies and raised them to the best of their abilities.
Edna was a volunteer at Watsonville Memorial Hospital and made beautiful flower arrangements which she shared with those who were ill. She also spent time working in the hospital gift shop. She blessed others with her flowers, hand made crafts, candy and cooking.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, George Thomas Anthony, sister Mabel Jones, son George Anthony Jr., and great-grand daughter, Hayley Ray Geros. What a joyous reunion they had when she entered the Kingdom! She is survived by her son, Allen Anthony of Puyallup Washington, daughter, Sharon (Jack) Davis of Surprise Arizona, daughter, Paula Anthony of Los Angeles California, daughter, Cassandra (Gerald) Lay of Orting Washington as well as her siblings, Albert Hansens of Mustang Oklahoma, Hazel Johnson of Edmond Oklahoma Alice (Stan) Dowers of Guthrie Oklahoma and John (Jeanette) Hansens of Kingfisher Oklahoma. She is also survived by 9 grandchildren and their spouses, 10 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great grandchild and numerous nieces and nephews.
Edna was a devout Christian and believed that all who call on the name of Jesus will see her again in Heaven. Until then, she will be greatly missed by those of us waiting for that precious day.
She will be interred at Tahoma National Cemetary on Friday July 20, 2012 at 2:45 pm. A service celebrating her life will be held at River's Edge Assembly of God Church in Orting Washington at 11:00 am on Saturday July 21, 2012.
