Edward L. Barnes, 52 of Williamston passed away on Sunday August 10th.
Ed, originally from Harriman, Tennessee, is survived by his daughter Amy (Shaun) Howlett his three sons, Christopher (Jacklyn) Barnes, Matthew Barnes, Kevin Barnes, and his grandchildren, Christopher Jr, Emmy, Cassidy, and Colt. Ed is also survived by his father, Otto Barnes, brother, Tim Barnes, and sister, Melba (Scott) Kastelic. He was preceded in death by his mother, Alice Barnes.
Born in Harriman, Tennessee, he spent his childhood growing up with a loving family; Mother Alice, Father, Otto, Brother, Tim and Sister, Melba. He was also surrounded by his Grandparents, Aunts, Uncles, and Cousins. After some travels through the Army including a stay in Germany, his family settled in Michigan. He grew up and met many friends in Madison Heights, MI. He graduated from Lamphere High School, where he enjoyed being a part of the Football, Basketball, and Baseball teams. After High School, he enlisted in the army and was stationed at Fort Ord in California.
He married his first wife, Karen, the same year his daughter, Amy, was born. Spending time in California, he developed a love for Golf and the 49ers. His first son, Christopher, was born on base shortly after. Moving back to Madison Heights, he welcomed his 2 youngest sons, Matthew and Kevin, and raised his family for the next few years in the community where he grew up.
Later in Ed's life, he became Grandpa Ed to Christopher Jr., Emmy, Cassidy and Colt.
Private family services will be held in Tennessee.
