Mr. Edward William Benfield, Sr., 67, of Morganton, passed away, Thursday, February 23, 2012, while at the Burke Hospice and Palliative Care Center, Valdese. Born January 19, 1945, in Burke County, Mr. Benfield was the son of the late Ed Benfield and Edna Short. In addition to his parents, Mr. Benfield was also preceded in death by his wife, Janice Rae Jenkins Benfield, a son, Dean Curtis Benfield, Sr. and a daughter, Rachel Doris Benfield.
Mr. Benfield is survived by a son, Edward William Benfield, Jr. & wife, Vanda, of Morganton;
A daughter, Lora Ann Cheuvront & husband, David, of Morganton;
A brother, Kenneth Benfield, of Morganton;
Also surviving are six grandchildren, Mikkaylla, Miranda, Ryan & D.J. Benfield and Stevie & Cory Cheuvront.
The family will receive friends 2:00 PM – 4:00 PM, Saturday, March 3, 2012, at Mr. Benfield's residence, 1915 Hillsboro Dr., Morganton, NC 28655.

I am saddened to hear the news of Ed's passing. I can still remember him from my childhood days. Ken I have you and family in my prayers. If you need to talk or anything I am here. May GOD grace the new arrival. Maybe he and Nan are holding hands now!
