Edward J. Sea, 91, of South Pekin, Illinois, died Saturday, December 28, 2013 at the home of his daughter in Fort Mill, South Carolina. He was born on December 20, 1922 in Mapleton, Illinois. He was the son of Edgar Sea and Amanda (Simpson) Jones. He married Wilma Newell on July 20, 1947 in Deer Creek, Illinois. She preceded him in death on March 12, 1991 in South Pekin, Illinois and also by a daughter, Pamela Jackson, two brothers, 2 great grandchildren, 1 step brother and 1 step sister.
He is survived by three children, Sue (John) Horchem of South Pekin, Illinois, Vicki (Jimm) Crouse of Fort Mill, South Carolina and Robert (Lori) Sea of Pekin, Illinois; 12 grandchildren; 32 great grandchildren; 7 step great grandchildren; 3 great great grandchildren and 5 step great great grandchildren. He has one sister, Dorothy Mulligan of North Pekin, Illinois.
Edward was a dryer operator for the Corn Products Company in Pekin for 35 years retiring in 1981 and was a fireman for the company during that time. He was a volunteer fireman and was the fire chief in South Pekin for many years. Edward worked for the Illinois Department of Conservation from 1988 to 2002 as the gatekeeper at Powerton Lake. He was a member of the Fraternal Order of the Eagles in Pekin and a member of the South Pekin Congregational Church. He was a WWII veteran of the United States Coast Guard.
Funeral services will be at 10:00 AM on Wednesday, January 8, 2014 at the Davison Fulton Woolsey Funeral Home in Pekin, Illinois. The Rev. Eric Branch will officiate. Visitation will be Tuesday from 5-7 PM at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Glendale Memorial Gardens in Pekin where military rites will be performed by the Tazewell Military Rites Team.
