To Jan. 13, 2011
Elaine E. Allen, born April 21st, 1929 to Hans William and Vesta Pearl Brons in Astoria Oregon passed away January 13th, 2011 after struggling for several years with Dementia. She's finally at peace and together again with her beloved husband Lewie Allen.
Elaine was raised in Warrenton Oregon along with her ten brothers and sisters. She met Lewie in Astoria. They were married in Warrenton on Nov. 25, 1950. After nearly 50 years of marriage Lewie passed away on Sept. 28, 2000. They had three children; Gale Thomason, Glen (Kathy) Allen, and Vena Swanson. His Navy career took them from Astoria to San Diego and Long Beach California, Pearl Harbor Hawaii, and then to Keyport Washington. They settled in nearby Bremerton in 1965. A working mother, she went to work in Naval Supply at each stop along the way. Elaine loved her work and enjoyed her fellow employees. She was a "plank owner" of the Naval Supply Center Puget Sound, retiring in 1988 after 32 years of dedicated service.
Elaine was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grand mother, and sister. Family was very special to her, especially her grandchildren. She kept herself busy in her retired years taking care of Lewie and spending time with the grandchildren whenever she got the chance. She really enjoyed getting together with, and talking about, her mom and dad, brothers and sisters. After Elaine retired she looked forward to meeting her siblings at the Three Rivers Mall in Kelso where they had lunch and spent the day reminiscing about old times and their families. She also looked forward to the annual family reunions in Newberg Oregon.
Elaine was preceded in death by her husband, her mother and father, Sisters Jean Byrd, Betty Miller, Marian Tripp, Brothers Louis, Bob, Tommy Brons, and son-in-law Patrick Swanson. She is survived by her three children; eight grandchildren; Robbie (Dena) Thomason, Cody (Chloe) Allen, Shawnte' Allen, Krista (Troy) Oelschlager, Stephanie (Jay) Bailey, Christopher (Ariel) Swanson, Nikki (Skylar) Burchard, and Dawn Swanson; eight great-grandchildren; sisters Joyce Starr, Virginia Carlson, Vesta Eggleston, and brother Fred Brons.
At her request, no service is planned. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the charity of the donor's choice. Elaine will be inurned with Lewie at the Tahoma National Cemetery.
The family would like to give special thanks to the staff and residents at Cypress Gardens Assisted Living in Bremerton for making her a part of their family, for caring and looking out for her. We can not thank the staff enough for the care and assistance they provided Elaine over the past several years.
