Elaine Clare Fleishell, 81, passed away after a long illness on Wednesday, March 28th 2012, in her Bowie, MD home surrounded by loved ones. She was born on September 23, 1930 in Pittsburgh, PA to the late Thomas Joseph and Bertha Virginia Imhoff McDonough. Elaine was a 1948 graduate of Notre Dame Academy in Washington, DC. She had three children with her former husband, George A. Fleishell, in a marriage spanning more than 20 years. Elaine was a federal employee for 16 years and worked as a Program Analyst for the U.S. Department of Treasury until her retirement in 1992. She was lovingly devoted to her family and close friends.
Elaine is survived by her three children all residing in Maryland: Elaine S. Fleishell of Bowie, Tom Fleishell (and his wife, Patty) of Severna Park, and Lisa Carpenter of Ridge; four grandchildren: Ted Polit (son of Elaine S.) of Glen Burnie, J.D. Carpenter (son of Lisa) of Crofton, Nicky Carpenter (daughter of Lisa) of Ridge, and Claire Fleishell (daughter of Tom and Patty) of Severna Park; six great-grandchildren: Gracie, Shawn and Lily (children of Nicky), and Sophia, Elena and J.D. Jr. (children of J.D.); sister: Mary Lu Graham of Grand Junction, CO as well as many nieces, nephews, extended family members and dear friends.
She is pre-deceased by her brother Tom McDonough and her grandson, Colin Carpenter (son of Lisa).
Family will receive visitors at Robert E. Evans Funeral Home during a viewing from 2 – 4 p.m. Sunday, April 1st. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday, April 2nd at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with burial following at Ft. Lincoln Cemetery, Brentwood, MD.
