Elinor Mary (Nansel) Pitts took her last breath on earth on December 22, 2010 and began her walk with the Lord. She was 93. She was survived by her daughter Mary and son-in-law Edward, son John and daughter-in-law Kelly; grandchildren Troy (Andrea) Trevena, Jondon (Kelly) Trevena, Jerica Trevena, Tawnika Trevena, Jhantel (Andy) Oberhill and Jathan (Michelle) Trevena; great-grandchildren Laura (Jason) Funk, Ashley Trevena, Kayla Zawada, Jesse Lozano, Reese Trevena, Tierdri Savage, Taydion Savage, Caleb Oberhill, Jaela Trevena and Taya Trevena; one great-great-grandson Eyan Funk; as well as, multiple generations of nieces and nephews. Elinor was preceded in death by her father John in 1946, mother Mary in 1959, and all 10 of her brothers and sisters. Her husband passed away in 1994. Elinor was the youngest of 11 and grew up during the depression on a farm in Nebraska. She loved school and was a straight A student. She dreamed of being a teacher but the depression and the war changed many things. Elinor, her mother, and a niece moved to Denver during the Second World War. She and her niece, Opal, met army buddies, George and Hubert. The men were stationed at Lowry Air Force Base. The couples were married in a double wedding in June of 1943. While George was away during the war, Elinor worked at General Iron Works in Englewood. When George returned from the war, Elinor had a job waiting for him at General Iron Works where he worked until he retired. Elinor quit working when their kids, Mary and John came along and also helped take care of the rabbits and chickens on the quarter acre they had. When John and Mary started school, Elinor returned to work so she and George could move to a place with running water and plumbing. She worked at Baly Manufacturing in Denver making overalls and then moved into working the front office, until it closed. She then moved to St. Luke's Hospital in Denver where she was head of the sewing department. She retired at age 65 from St. Luke's. After retirement she continued to make costumes for an Elvis impersonator and provided other sewing services for many people. As a Life time member of Central Bible Church in Lakewood, she especially loved working with the ladies group, Dorca'a Doer's, and singing in the choir. She spent daily time with the Lord in prayer and reading the scripture. She read the Bible front to back on a yearly basis. Because of Parkinson's disease, Elinor moved to Ft. Collins Good Samaritan's Village where she made many new friends and could be closer to family. Elinor will forever be remembered and loved by all who knew her. In lieu of flowers please send donations to Dorca's Doer's in care of Central Bible Church, 1490 Pierce St., Lakewood, CO.
