Elizabeth Ann Abadie, 71, of Lake Charles passed away on July 7, 2012 in a local hospital. Mrs. Abadie was born in Lake Charles when she lived her entire life.
She graduated from LaGrange High School and McNeese State University, where she received a degree in elementary education. She taught at local schools in Calcasieu Parish. Mrs. Abadie opened various retail shops and was instrumental in creating the Cottage Shop District. She owned and operated the Abadie Properties for 43 years. She was a talented artist and was a member of the art group, "Studio 347", at Central School.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Donald and Lucille Breaux; her husband, Harold L. Abadie; her son, Jaime. She is survived by two sons Brett Abadie and Andre Abadie and wife Rachel of Lake Charles; her grandson, Brennan Abadie; her sister, Barbara Bryan of Pensacola, Florida. She also leaves behind her special friends, Russell Hoffpauir.
Her funeral service will be at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, July 10, 2012 at Our Lady Queen of Heaven Catholic Church. Rev. John Huckabee will officiate. Visitation will be at 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. Monday, July 9, 2012 and will continue at 8 a.m. Tuesday until the time of service. Rosary will be prayed at 6:30 p.m. on Monday.
