Emily Aylward, 93, passed away on January 22, 2012. She was born on July 10, 1918 in Bronx, NY to Raymond and Mary (Alvories) Hemstreet. Emily has been a resident of Rockland County since 1959. She was a crossing guard for the Clarkstown School District at Street School for 28 years. She was a loving and giving person working for Jawonio, Meal on Wheels, Cancer Care and devoted her life to be a great foster parent. Emily was so full of life and will be missed dearly by all who knew her. She is survived by her sons, Robert Tassello (Dolores) of Congers, NY, Clinton Aylward (Kimberly) of New City, NY, and Christopher Aylward (Elisa); her daughter, Mary Ann Diodato (Mario) of FL; 6 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband, Clint, in 2003. A Memorial Service will be held on Thursday from 2-4 and 7-9pm at Higgins Funeral Home in Congers, NY. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the United Hospice of Rockland, 11 Stokum Lane, New City, NY 10956.
